Note to self: 750W power supply not enough for 5xHD, 2xLightScribe, 1 floppy and a radeon HD 7950.

Santosh's Diet

Written by Santosh Bungay

Yeeeee Haaaaa! I've finally decided to go on a diet!

There were a number of reasons for doing this:

1) For Rosmina
2) For my health
3) Lastly and the most important reason - so I could tie my shoelaces without huffing and puffing.

What initiated this?

Well, my regular daily breakfast for the past few months while I was working at home consisted of 2 eggs, 1 slice of toast, beans, hashbrowns, 5-6 slices of bacon and 2-4 slices of sausages. After starting at Nortel, I'd eat the one of the various menu items in the cafeteria. The "Eye Opener" was almost identical to my regular breakfast at home (but with 2 sausages only, no bacon - but i'd add them seperately :-) )

Steve and Basil, who have boycotted the cafeteria said I would be sick of the food in a week - I didn't think much of it since it was the norm for me. But for some reason, they ended up being right - I can't say for sure why I started hating the food, perhaps it was the excessive grease (far less when I made it at home) or just the fact that I could no longer fit into my shorts. You know you've gained way too much weight when the shorts which were loose on you for years become tight in the span of 3 months.

There was also the fact that everyone was bringing in lunches in these cool insulated lunch bags and I wanted one of them too and picked up this cool blue one from Walmart but now i'd have to use.

Carlos had gone on a diet and he had lost 65lb over 4 months so I thought I should be able to do the same. I would look at what everyone was bringing in for lunch and follow their lead:

David brought a bagel for breakfast so I started having a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast.
Everyone would bring in some pre-prepared meal for lunch, be it a sandwich, soup/noodles or rice and chicken/fish etc. - now ditto for me.
Everyone would bring in fruits so I started bring a banana and orange too.
Greg, Steve and Nidel would bring in yogurt so I started that as well. There was a debate as to what yogurt was the best and cheapest but I went for the more expensive one - I hate no name.
Because of his boycott of the cafeteria plus the fact it was cheaper, Steve brought his own tea bags so I did the same and had a tea for breakfast and i'd bring a bottle of cream soda for lunch.

Well, we'll see how things go.
